PERFORMERS AT THE 2010 CHICO AIR SHOW

 

(CHICO, Calif.) – The line up for the 2010-2011 Chico Air Show has been announced and the following acts will be performing at the Chico Municipal Airport September 24-26!

 

Canadian Forces Snowbirds   

Chico is the only city in northern California to host a Jet team in 2010.  Highlighting this year’s air show will be a thrilling aerial performance by the nine jets of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Jet Team.  Compiled of members serving in the Canadian Forces, the Snowbird’s pilots and technicians work as a team to exemplify the highest levels of teamwork, excellence, discipline, and dedication.

 

U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt (Warthog) Demo Team

The A-10 Thunderbolt is an aircraft that can perform exceptional aerial maneuvers at low speeds and altitudes while being able to deliver weapons with precision to their targets.  The A-10 West Demonstration Team is a select group of professionals dedicated to showing the extreme capabilities of this single-seat, twin-engine, straight-wing jet aircraft and the professional competence of the U.S. Air Force personnel.

 

Melissa Aerobatics

Be amazed by the youngest female ever to perform on the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Team!  Watch as Melissa Pemberton performs heart racing maneuvers that defies gravity while flying her candy Blue Edge 540 with pink flames!

 

USO Smoke-n-Thunder Jet Car

The USO Smoke-n-Thunder Jet Car show was the first jet-ground act in the air show industry and has been performing since 1985.  The jet car that performs is a 26 foot long rocket that never leaves the ground.  With a Westinghouse jet engine churns 10,000 horsepower and pumps about 6,000 pounds of thrust!

 

Pietsch Airshows

Kent Pietsch began his flying career at a young age, flying solo for the first time at 16.  After performing impressive maneuvers in the sky, this skilled pilot will land his Jelly Belly aircraft in a grand finale on top of a moving RV!

 

U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division - SCREAMING EAGLES

The United States Army’s 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles” goal is to not only inspire but also demonstrate their dedication and precision. This parachute jump team is a full time aerial demonstration unit made of soldiers who make up the unit from diverse backgrounds holding various military occupational skills.

 

U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III

The C-17 Globemaster III is the newest and most flexible cargo aircraft the military has to offer.  Capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to bases in deployment areas, the Globemaster can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions while being able to transport ambulatory patients during medical evacuations.

 

 

U.S. Air Force C-5 Galaxy

The C-5 Galaxy is the largest military plane in the U.S. arsenal to date and is able to hold heavy loads while being fully equipped and combat ready to move military units to any point in the world.

 

U.S. Air Force U-2 Dragon Lady

The U-2 Dragon Lady is able to deliver critical imagery and signals to intelligence personnel through its all-weather surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.  The U-2 Dragon Lady provides high altitude, all weather surveillance and reconnaissance during the day or night, in direct support of U.S. and allied forces.

 

U.S. Air Force T-38 Talon

The T-38 Talon is a twin-engine, high-altitude supersonic jet used for joint specialized training of undergraduate pilots hoping to have a career in aviation.  Air Education and Training Command is the primary user of the Talon for joint specialized undergraduate pilot training.

 

Pitts Special Biplane Aerobatics with Bob Finer

As a carrier-qualified Marine Corps jet aviator, Bob Finer has flown many hours at low level conducting close air support, armed-reconnaissance and forward air control. During assignment at the Marine Corps Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron (MAWTS) he instructed advanced air-to-air and air-to-ground tactics.

 

WWII Warbirds

Come out and see a static display of former military aircraft called the “Warbirds!” Come out and see a static display of former military aircraft called the “Warbirds!” The P-51 mustang" Speed ball Alice" will be piloted by Dan Vance.  Dan flies for American Airlines and holds a low altitude aerobatic waiver in his Mustang, and will perform his aerobatic routine in this classic WWII North American fighter.

 

 The performance Lineup is subject to change.

 

In addition to the aerial and static performances at the 2010 Chico Air Show, the show will features a Kid’s Zone for the kids, food booths, vendors, a Flightline Club (for those that want a frontline view, shade and food from The Son’s of Italy).
