(CHICO, Calif. ) – The Chico Air Show 2010 is more
than just planes; the event will feature great food as well! From the Friday evening “Snowbird Cantina,”
catered by La Cocina Economica, to the Flightline Club’s offerings by the Sons
of Italy, along with lots of local vendors offering everything from hamburgers
and Pizza to Kettle Corn and ice cream, the Chico Air show will host a great
array of gastric delights for any palate.
All of the food offered at the Chico Air Show will be
provided by local vendors and restaurants.
The Friday night “Twilight Dinner and Dance” will feature a catered
dinner by La Cocina Economica – the recent winners of the Chico Chamber of
Commerce cook-off. Highlighted by a southwest salad, grilled asada, carnitas
and chicken tacos, tamales and rice, beans chips and salsa, the dinner will
transform the Flightline Tent into the Snowbird
Cantina for the evening. Jon Meyer,
owner of La Cocina Economica, uses fresh ingredients, most locally grown and
purchased at the local farmers markets. “My salsa tastes better when I use the
local tomatoes” he says. “Nothing beats a fresh salsa made with tomatoes picked
the day before!”
Chico’s
own Sons of Italy will be providing the food on Saturday and Sunday in the
Flightline tent. Offerings of tri-tip
and meatball sandwiches, fruit and green salad will highlight their menu. As with La Cocina Economica, the Sons of
Italy also purchase most of their ingredients locally, especially the produce.
With the wide array of fruits and vegetables available from the farmers markets
this time of the year, the fruit and green salads should taste especially fresh
and flavorful.
